When do lessons run?

Coast Academy of Music lessons run according to the NSW public school term calendar.

Lessons run Monday to Friday from 2:30pm – 8:00pm. However, outside of these hours lessons can be given by arrangement. During school holidays regular classes break. There may on occasion be workshops or master-classes available during holidays.

Casual Bookings

If you are not confident to commit to a permanent booking, we do offer casual lessons. They are to be booked on a week-to-week basis and paid for when the lesson is booked. We cannot guarantee the same day, time or teacher. They are $45.00 per half hour.

Introductory Lesson Offer

This offer is for new students only and can only be redeemed on their first 1/2hr private lesson at our Saratoga studio. The price is $25 and must be paid when booking the lesson. Our standard cancellation policy also applies to these lessons.

Payments

Payments can be made by Cash, Cheque, Direct Debit, or by Credit Card securely through PayPal. All these details can be found at the bottom of the invoice each family will receive before the start of the term. All fees are due within 21 days.

It's my first lesson, what do I need to bring with me?

You don’t have to bring anything. However, if you have your own guitar, bass, ukulele or drum sticks that you prefer, you are welcome to bring them along.

Can parents or a friend sit in on the lesson?

We have an open door policy allowing family or a friend to sit in on lessons if they wish to do so.

Can a guitar be provied in my lesson?

Yes we have guitars here if you wish to borrow one during your lesson.

Do you teach Music Theory?

Yes, we believe music theory is crucial in allowing students to communicate their musical ideas. But don't let this scare you! Our tutors ensure that all theory is explained in a practical way you can use straight away.

Do you teach students to read Music?

Yes, being able to read musical notation is a vital skill to enable students to communicate their musical ideas. We use combinations of traditional notation and tabulature to best facilitate learning.

Do you offer external Music Examinations?

Yes. We are a regional examination centre for the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB). However, these are not compulsory. If you are intrested in exams contact our office to discuss your options.

What level and age can I start?

We take students of all skill levels and all ages.

We don't have a minimum age but rather go off a childs personality and attention span. It's best to contact our office to discuss each child individually.
